Description: Sheriff Ackerman was killed in a single vehicle crash while driving to Santa Fe on official business. He was travelling to join other New Mexico sheriffs for a meeting with members of the state legislature. His department vehicle left the roadway and rolled over. Sheriff Ackerman was pronounced dead at the scene.
