Description: Marshal Anderson was found beaten to death, his body hidden in a boxcar. Concern regarding his whereabouts grew after his shift had ended and he could not be found. Several months later the former Marshal, George Smith, confessed to the murder because he feared Marshal Anderson was about to turn him in when he learned that Smith was blackmailing the local bootleggers. Marshal Smith was arrested and received a life sentence.
