Description: Chief of Police Alford was shot as he and a deputy marshal gained entry into a residence. The officers were contacted by a woman who complained that her husband had refused to let her in the house. As the officers opened the door, the man fired and Chief Alford was shot in the arm. Chief Alford was transported to the hospital where he died. His assailant was taken into custody.
