Description: On July 6, 1909, Deputy Dispensary Constable Altman and Dispensary Constable Cotesworth Fishburne were shot while attempting to stop a suspect from taking a keg of contraband whiskey from the railroad station. Deputy Altman died of his injuries three days later. Constable Fishburne died at the scene. The suspect was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
