Description: Sheriff Adkinson and Prison Guard Franklin Hendrix were shot and killed as they stood in front of Guard Hendrix's home. Constable James Neal confessed to the murders two days later and claimed that the lawmen were plotting to have him fired. Constable Neal had been charged with operating an illegal still. Sheriff Adkinson and Guard Hendrix had both been summoned to testify at the upcoming hearing.
