Description: Officer Adams was dispatched with his partner to the home of a suspect who had just shot and critically wounded two deputy sheriff's. As Officer Adams was making his way through the front door, the suspect shot and killed Officer Adams. His partner shot the suspect in the leg and took him into custody. Deputy Sheriff's Charles W. Smith and Allen Bartsis were wounded in this incident. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to be executed by hanging.
