Description: Civil disorder. Shot. Officer Jonas Aiken had only been with Atlanta Police Department a month when he was killed on Saturday night December 13, 1924. While checking the police signal system that evening his rounds led him to the vicinity of a house where three men were engaged in a heated argument. Officer Aiken attempted to diffuse the situation, and a brief scuffle ensued. Officer Aiken went for his gun, and one of the men grabbed the weapon, twisted out of Aiken?s hand and fired a shot into Aiken?s neck. He was rushed to Grady hospital where he died shortly after arriving.
