Description: Patrolman Aragon was struck and killed by suspect's vehicle while assisting in a pursuit on I-40 near Grants, New Mexico. Patrolman Aragon and his partner William Cunningham were in plainclothes and on their way to testify in a Federal Court case when they heard on their police radio that fellow officers were in pursuit of a vehicle on I-40. Patrolman Aragon assisted in deploying spike sticks moments before the suspect's vehicle came into view. The suspect swerved to avoid the spike strips and struck Patrolman Aragon. The 19 year-old suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
