Description: Officer Atkinson was shot and killed after being ambushed by suspected drug traffickers. While on patrol, Officer Atkinson observed drug suspects and started to pursue the vehicle. Suspects saw the officer and sped up to turn the corner. By the time Officer Atkinson had turned the corner, the suspects had exited their car and drawn their weapons. Officer Atkinson was shot twice in the head.
