Description: Trooper Armstead was returning from a duty assignment with the State Highway Administration when he saw several people flagging him down. As he focused on the citizens in need, he struck the back of a commercial van that was stopped in traffic. Trooper Armstead was trapped in his patrol car for thirty minutes before he was flown to the hospital where he was pronounced dead .
