Description: In the early morning hours, Patrolmen Armistead and W.D. Wallace noticed a suspect acting suspiciously in the downtown area of Atlanta where all local businesses were closed. While attempting place handcuffs on the suspect, the suspect produced a weapon and shot both officers. Patrolmen Armistead was shot to death and W.D. Wallace was wounded as they attempted to arrest the man.
