Description: Marshal Alexander and several other lawmen lay in wait in the woods for a wagon allegedly transporting illegal liquor. As the wagon approached, the lawmen ordered the driver to halt. The driver responded with a shotgun blast which struck and killed Marshal Alexander. The lawmen returned fire, wounding one suspect. Two suspects were taken into custody. One suspect was found guilty and received an eight year sentence. The second suspect was acquitted.
