Description: Deputy Sheriff Beard was killed in a single vehicle crash while responding to a burglar alarm during a severe thunderstorm. The roadway was wet and had pockets of standing water. The patrol vehicle hydroplaned and left the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned several times. Deputy Sheriff Beard was pulled out of the patrol vehicle by the fire department and he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
