Description: At 12:50 PM while on traffic duty on East Main Street, Officer Barbieri was approached by an aggressive, mentally deranged young man. Officer Barbieri and Officer William Oliver took the man into custody and a struggle ensued. Officer Barbieri at one point had to tackle the suspect to keep him from escaping and dragged the suspect up the steps and into headquarters. After the man had been locked up, Officer Barbieri passed out. All attempts to revive him failed and he was pronounced dead of a heart attack at 1:00 PM.
