Description: On January 22, 1912, Deputy Sheriff Belcher was supervising a work crew of inmates at a road camp when he was attacked and severely beaten. Deputy Belcher was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries one month later on February 17th. One inmate was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a posse. Two other inmates were convicted of murder and executed via the electric chair.
