Description: Guard Benedict, of the Auburn Prison, was killed by an inmate because he reported him for talking. The inmate struck Guard Benedict over the head, wrestled the gun from him, then shot him with his own gun. The inmate was executed in the electric chair at Auburn Prison on Sept. 14, 1903.
