Description: On February 15, 2018, Corrections Officer Baserman was attacked by an inmate at the State Correctional Institute in Somerset, Pennsylvania. The inmate punched Officer Baserman in a housing unit day room and continued to beat and kick him in the head while he was on the ground. Another officer attempting to assist was attacked and injured by the inmate. Both officers were transported to the hospital and Officer Baserman succumbed to his injuries eleven days later on February 26, 2018.
