Description: Deputy Provost Marshal Bashore and Special Agent Josiah Woodruff were ambushed and fatally shot as they attempted to serve arrest warrants to several draft dodgers in Poweshiek County, Iowa. The officers were betrayed by a man who had promised to help them but instead divulged their identities and intentions to the draft dodgers. The man was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
