Description: Sergeant Baumgartner was killed in a vehicle crash while engaged in a vehicle pursuit of a suspect. Sergeant Baumgartner responded to a call, with emergency lights and siren activated, regarding a suspect who was causing a public disturbance and was later discovered to be intoxicated. When Sergeant Baumgartner arrived at the scene, the suspect attempted to run him over. As Sergeant Baumgartner engaged in a vehicle pursuit, his patrol car was t-boned by an SUV at an intersection. Sergeant Baumgartner was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead. The suspect returned to the scene and was arrested.
