Description: City Marshal Burnett was shot by another man as he was escorting a prisoner to jail. The man came from behind Marshal Burnett and demanded that he turn the prisoner loose. When Marshal Burnett refused, he shot him in the head. Marshal Burnett died at the scene. His assailant was arrested.
