Description: Deputy Broadwell and Deputy Smith served a warrant of arrest on a male subject accused of assaulting his wife. While the deputies were at the front door, the suspect opened the door and shot Deputy Broadwell at point blank range in the abdomen. Deputy Broadwell died almost instantly. Deputy Smith was not injured.
