Description: Lieutenant Brandenburger was accidentally shot in the chest while cleaning a 12 gauge shotgun at department headquarters. The investigation concluded that a shell had been jammed in the magazine and discharged when he placed the gun down. Lieutenant Brandenburger was alone in the station at the time and was working in a room normally used for cleaning weapons. The coroner ruled the death as accidental.
