Description: On May 18, 2018, Chief Burton was on foot patrol on the campus of Wayland Baptist University when he stepped off a curb into the street. It was later determined he had torn the quad tendon and meniscus. The injury required surgery and he was immobilized during the recovery process. On June 25, 2018, Chief Burton suffered a pulmonary embolism at home, was transported to the hospital and died later that day.
