Description: Patrol Officer Birkholz was ambushed and shot while responding to an officer shot call. As Officer Birkholz exited his patrol vehicle, the suspect emerged from hiding and shot Officer Birkholz twice. Officer Birkholz died at the scene. Officer Ryan Williams and Officer Zachary Schultz were also wounded in the incident but survived. The suspect continued a standoff with police for over six hours and then committed suicide.
