Description: Commander Bernock died while participating in a required physical fitness exercise. Commander Bernock collapsed after running a 12.5 mile course, which was the final part of the department's annual physical fitness exam. Fellow officers immediately began CPR until emergency teams arrived. Commander Bernock was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead from a heart attack.
