Description: Officer Bessant was shot and killed after responding to assist another officer on a traffic stop. Officer Bessant was covering the other officer when he was shot three times under the arm in an area not protected by his vest. Officer Bessant was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect was a juvenile who fired from a distant building.
