Description: Parole Officer Burns was shot in Alicia, Arkansas while transporting two escaped prisoners to the Kansas State Penitentiary. Officer Burns and the prisoners were traveling by train from Arkansas to Kansas when one of the prisoners produced a concealed weapon and shot Officer Burns four times. Officer Burns died the following day from his injuries. Both prisoners were captured and sentenced to life in prison.
