Description: Officer Beattie was killed while attempting to make a traffic stop on Route 163, in San Diego County. Officer Beattie had been following the slow-moving truck in the right lane. Officer Beattie activated his emergency lights and accelerated, the truck in front of him suddenly braked causing him to crash into the rear back tire. Officer Beattie was thrown several feet from his motorcycle onto Interstate 8. Officer Beattie was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
