Description: Sheriff Butler was shot when he and two other officers attempted to serve a search warrant on suspected bootleggers. Sheriff Butler, who was shot twice in the torso, was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries three days later. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
