Description: Deputy Beck, Sheriff Frank Smith and Deputy Will Briggs went to arrest several men wanted for robbery. The lawmen surrounded the cabin and ordered the suspects to surrender. The request was met with a hail of gunfire and Deputy Beck was fatally shot four times. Sheriff Smith was fatally shot in the chest. Deputy Briggs was able to identify the fleeing gunmen and a posse was formed. Three of the suspects were caught.
