Description: Town Marshal Brenner was shot when he discovered a burglary in progress at the Flatiron building. Marshal Brenner fired a warning shot then pursued the fleeing burglars. One of the burglars turned and fired, striking Marshal Brenner in the neck. Marshal Brenner staggered home, fell into his wife's arms and died. The burglars were arrested. The shooter was convicted of murder and received a life sentence.
