Description: Chief of Police G.E. Bedford, and Officer George Carmichael responded to emergency call that a robbery was taking place at the local bank. The officers engaged in a ten minute shoot-out with the bank robbers. Several Citizens were wounded, Chief Bedford was shot several times, he died later that night from the injuries. Officer Carmichael was shot several times also, he died approximately two week later from his wounds.
