Description: Patrolman Beasley was shot when he came across a burglary in progress while on patrol. Two suspects were dragging a safe from the rear entrance of a shoe store into an alley when they were spotted by Patrolman Beasley and opened fire. Patrolman Beasley, who was shot in the chest and leg, returned fire. The suspects fled. Patrolman Beasley was transported to the hospital where he died two days later. Patrolman Beasley was a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery at Vera Cruz in 1914.
