Description: Sergeant Booten and Detective George Cessna observed two suspicious men parked in front of a laundry and stepped out of their patrol car to talk to them. The men opened fire on the officers, striking Sergeant Booten in the stomach and grazing Detective Cessna across the chest. Detective Cessna returned fire and struck one suspect. Sergeant Booten died at the hospital. The suspect was found guilty and received a life sentence. His sentence was later commuted to 90 years and was released after serving 30 years.
