Description: Patrolman Brown was shot and killed after stopping a suspicious vehicle. The suspect driver had just shot Trooper W. L. Reese who stopped the suspect in Richmond County, NC for speeding. The suspect was later identified as an New York State mental hospital escapee. The escapee told officials that he was en route to Mississippi to attempt to break his brother out of death row. The suspect was arrested and sentenced to two life sentences.
