Description: Constable Byrd was on patrol while the citizens were engaged in the annual county picnic. Constable Byrd became engaged in a rather heated argument with two people. One of the men took Constable Byrd's gun from his holster and struck Constable Byrd several times on the head. Constable Byrd was transported to a local hospital where he lapsed into a coma for two days before he died.
