Description: Patrolman First Class Brooks was killed in a motorcycle crash while en route to police headquarters on his personal motorcycle and in full uniform. A construction excavator was crossing Highway 51 without a flagman, lights or reflectors. Patrolman Brooks crashed into the excavator which was still completing the turn at the red light at the intersection. Patrolman Brooks was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
