Description: Deputy Constable Broome was killed his first night on duty. Deputy Broome was on patrol at a local cemetery which had been vandalized seven times in the past ten days. As two suspects burglarized the pumphouse in the cemetery, they were stopped by Deputy Broome. Deputy Broome was attacked and beaten by the burglars who fled the scene. When a fellow constable reported to duty the next day, he found Deputy Broome lying face down in the rain, with a fractured skull.
