Description: Guard Butler was in charge of a group of twenty prisoners who were assigned to clean the train yard. While supervising the prisoners, an incoming Missouri Pacific train hit a group of flat cars and derailed. Guard Bulter and several prisoners were struck by the train. Guard Butler suffered a broken back and severe head injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
