Description: Detective Barnes was shot when he responded to a robbery in progress. Detective Barnes was off-duty when he witnessed a suspect attack an employee on her way to the bank to make a deposit. Detective Barnes struggled with the suspect and was shot three times. Detective Barnes, although wounded, was able to apprehend the suspect until backup arrived. Detective Barnes was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries. Two suspects were convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
