Description: Patrol Officer Buchanan was shot and killed by a suspect who had escaped from other officers and was hiding in a closet at the Beyer Hotel. Officer Buchanan ordered the suspect to come out of hiding and the suspect responded by firing a .45 handgun twice, striking officer Buchanan in the chest. The suspect was apprehended, tried in a court of law and convicted of manslaughter.
