Description: Officer Bechtol was responding to a disturbed person call with his emergency lights and siren on when he was struck broadside at an intersection by another car. Officer Bechtol was killed instantly. The driver was charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and vehicular homicide, which amounted to a $100 fine and up to six months in jail for the misdemeanor.
