Description: Officer Burnham and his partner responded to a fire located on Merrimac Street. When they arrived at the scene, they heard an explosion inside the Merrimac National Bank. Officer Burnham went to the rear of the bank and Officer Scales covered the front door. Officer Burnham saw a suspect descending a ladder and proceeded to place him under arrest. The suspect produced a weapon and fatally shot Officer Burnham in the head.
