Description: Customs Agent Babcock was swept from a U.S. Customs boat and drowned while in pursuit of rum runners. Agent Babcock was part of a team in pursuit of a boat suspected of smuggling liquor illegally across Lake Champlain. When the officers came close to the boat, they were intentionally blinded by a light from the suspect boat. Agent Babcock was swept from the boat by a wave and drowned. Another officer boarded the suspects' boat and arrested three men.
