Description: Private Brown was killed after he arrested a suspect for cutting hay without a permit in Ottawa County, Oklahoma. Because it was evening, Private Brown and the prisoner set up camp to sleep a few hours before continuing on with the six hour ride to the jail. In the early morning hours, the prisoner slipped out of his shackles, found a pickax and stabbed Private Brown to death.
