Description: Deputy Brewer was shot and killed by a barricaded suspect who had been firing shots randomly throughout the day. Deputy Brewer received a fatal gunshot wound to his heart. The Gunman, Robert Taschner eventually fled from the burning apartment and was slain as he continued to shoot it out with other officers. Deputy Brewer and his wife, Deputy Cathy Wiermaa, had been married for only three weeks at the time of his death.
