Description: Officer Beall and Officer Shawn Smiley, responded to a domestic disturbance call where a suspect was shooting at his girlfriend and child in the Dayton View area. While officers tried to get the suspect to drop his weapon, Officer Beall dropped to her knees in an attempt to negotiate with the suspect. The suspect shot Officer Beall in the neck before being shot himself by Officer Smiley. Officer Beall was paralyzed from the neck down. She survived for two years before succumbing to her injuries.
