Description: Warden Burgher was assaulted by a group of prisoners who were attempting to escape the Utah State Prison. Warden Burgher was struck repeatedly with a rock wrapped in a woolen sock and died of his injuries two days later. The suspects were captured but escaped three months later and were never recaptured.
