Description: Constable Beane was summoned by a citizen to arrest a man for forgery. Constable Beane located the suspect at the Lancaster Hotel and attempted to make an arrest. The suspect fled the premises with Constable Beane in pursuit. Constable Beane struggled with the suspect. The suspect fired his revolver, which struck Constable Beane in the chest, killing him. The suspect fled the scene and committed suicide.
