Description: Sergeant Burks died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident four days prior. On August 12th, Sergeant Burks was on patrol on US Hwy 31 in his department vehicle when another vehicle attempted to make a left turn in front of him and caused a collision. Two passengers from the suspect vehicle were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Sergeant Burks was transported to a local hospital where he died on August 16th of multiple internal injuries.
